  2. Location, Location, Location Geotagging your images is like leaving breadcrumbs for Google. Use geoimgr.com and:
  • Upload your image
  • Set your location
  • Add keywords and description
  • Hit ‘Write EXIF Tags’
  • Download that optimized goodness
  1. Alt Text That Actually Makes Sense This is where ChatGPT becomes your new BFF. Tell it about your business, throw in your keyword, and let it work its magic on your image descriptions.

Instead of a vague H1 like “Welcome!” try something like: “Toronto Web Designer Creating Custom Shopify Stores” or “Custom Website Design for Creative Entrepreneurs”

Your meta description could go from: “Welcome to my website where I help businesses with their online presence” to “Transform your online presence with custom website design that converts. Toronto-based web designer specializing in Shopify and creative businesses.”

You wouldn’t believe some of the homepage SEO situations I’ve had to fix:

  • A photographer with 15MB images wondering why their site loaded slower than my grandma’s dial-up
  • An interior designer whose hero image alt text was literally “IMG_45678” (Google was NOT impressed)
  • A client with three H1s on their homepage (pick one and stick with it, friend)
