Especially when it landed me exactly ONE lead for my service-based business over YEARS. It was time to explore some alternative marketing strategies that actually work.

So, mid-August, I took a REAL HARD LOOK 🍆 at my business. I needed alternative marketing strategies that worked for my business AND my sanity. Here’s what I cooked up:

  1. SEO-Optimized Blogs: Your New Marketing BFF I dove into keyword research, but with a twist. I looked at what my target audience might be searching for now AND in the coming months. Pro tip: Check your calendar and think seasonal!
  2. Pinterest: The Traffic Goldmine I’ve been pinning almost daily – a mix of my blogs and other business-related content. The traffic to my website? Chef’s kiss. Also, I’m not a Pinterest guru, but I have a person if you’re looking 👀
  3. Good Old-Fashioned Networking It’s not necessarily my favorite alternative marketing strategy, and while the jury’s still out on this one, I HAVE been hitting up more events and engaging with my community. Heck, I even landed a lead from a casual chat with a mom at a coffee shop. PLEASE KEEP IT NATURAL WHEN TALKING WITH REGULAR HUMANS.
  4. Facebook Groups: The Underdog It’s not as easy as it used to be, but it’s worth a shot. Personalized messages work wonders, or have a ready-to-go response in your notes app. Just remember: B2B and B2C strategies differ wildly here.
  5. Online Directories: The Unsung Heroes of Alternative Marketing This is HUGE. We’re talking 80% of my clients huge. Get your business listed on relevant directories. It’s a goldmine for people finding you AND it boosts your SEO. Oh, and while you’re at it, polish up that Google Business Profile. Trust me on this one.

The Secret Sauce of Alternative Marketing Strategies: A Killer Website

(I’m serious on this one, I can send you a list of pizza shops near me where their website is brutal LOL)
