Stuck in the Wix vs Showit debate? You’re not alone. As a web designer who’s built sites on both platforms, I’ve seen firsthand what works (and what doesn’t) for different types of businesses. Let’s break this down, category by category, so you can figure out which platform deserves your time and money.

Round 1: Design Flexibility

Winner: Showit

Showit is like Photoshop for your website – you can literally place anything anywhere. There are no rows, columns, or grid systems limiting your creativity. Want text flowing in a circle? Done. Unique animation on mobile only? No problem.

Wix offers decent design flexibility with its drag-and-drop editor, but you’re still somewhat constrained by its grid system. For most basic websites, this is fine. But when you want that extra creative edge? Showit takes this round.

Round 2: User-Friendliness

Winner: Showit

Surprising, right? While Wix markets itself as the user-friendly option, Showit’s interface is actually more intuitive for visual thinkers. Its Adobe-like interface feels familiar to creatives, and the learning curve isn’t as steep as you might expect.

Wix throws a lot at you – apps, features, settings – which can overwhelm users. Showit takes a more streamlined approach that focuses on design first.

Round 3: SEO Capabilities

Winner: Tie

Both platforms offer solid SEO fundamentals: custom meta descriptions, alt text, heading tags, and mobile optimization. Showit now integrates with WordPress for blogging, giving it additional SEO power.

Wix has stepped up its SEO game significantly in recent years. The difference comes down to implementation – either platform can rank well when properly optimized.

Round 4: Blogging

Winner: Showit

Showit’s integration with WordPress for blogging is a game-changer. You get the design freedom of Showit with the blogging powerhouse of WordPress. This means better categorization, tagging, and long-term SEO benefits.

Wix’s blogging features work fine for basic blogs, but they lack the depth and flexibility that WordPress (and therefore Showit) offers.

Round 5: E-commerce

Winner: Wix

If selling products is your main goal, Wix takes this round. Its native e-commerce functionality is robust, with inventory management, tax calculations, shipping options, and payment gateways built right in.

Showit requires third-party integration (usually Shopify Lite) for e-commerce, which works well but isn’t as seamless as Wix’s built-in solution.

Round 6: Pricing

Winner: Wix

Wix offers more affordable entry-level plans, starting around $16/month for a basic business site. Showit starts at $24/month and goes up to $39/month for the blog plan (which most users need).

If budget is your primary concern, Wix provides more bang for your buck. However, the design limitations might make the savings less valuable depending on your needs.

Round 7: Templates

Winner: Showit

Both platforms offer templates, but Showit’s templates (especially those by third-party designers) are generally more design-forward and aimed at creative entrepreneurs. They’re also more customizable once you select one.

Wix has a larger template library, but many look dated or overly generic. Quality over quantity gives Showit the edge here.

Round 8: Mobile Responsiveness

Winner: Tie

Both platforms handle mobile differently. Wix automatically creates your mobile view, which you can then customize. Showit requires you to design both desktop and mobile views, which means more work but also more control.

Neither approach is inherently better – it depends on how much control you want over your mobile experience.

Wix vs Showit: The Overall Winner

It depends on YOUR business

For creative service providers (photographers, designers, coaches, consultants): 👑 Showit takes the crown. The design flexibility and WordPress blogging integration make it ideal for brand-focused businesses.

For e-commerce businesses or those on a tight budget: 👑 Wix is your champion. The built-in selling tools and lower price point make more sense.

Making Your Final Decision

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Is unique, high-end design crucial to your brand?
  2. Do you plan to blog regularly as part of your strategy?
  3. Is selling physical products your main business model?
  4. How comfortable are you learning new platforms?

If you answered yes to #1 and #2, lean toward Showit. If you answered yes to #3, Wix might be better for you.

The Bottom Line

The Wix vs Showit debate ultimately comes down to your specific needs. Need a stunning site that reflects your creative business and stands out from the crowd? Showit is worth the investment. Need something more affordable with built-in e-commerce? Wix has you covered.
